Trafficking in Persons. Global Crisis. Global
Perspective.
Tulane
University, New Orleans, 7-9 April 2005
Human trafficking has emerged as a key
issue for the international community. This issue, closely
linked with globalization, impacts all aspects of our
global community – from our economy to our safety
to our very human and civil rights. The United States
has led the charge in establishing a comprehensive response
to this growing global crisis, and numerous countries
have quickly emerged in a global partnership to combat
it.
Increased public awareness is critical. This symposium
has provided a forum to discuss a wide variety of issues
including prevention and prosecution of human trafficking,
as well as other critically related issues such as maritime
and immigration law.
The symposium featured leaders from the international development,
legal, governmental, and academic communities. Volume 14,
Issue 2 of the Tulane Journal of International and Comparative
Law will capture the essence of these presentations
and the pivotal issues they deal with and put them into
print.
